The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine is beginning to roll out as early as Sunday in Quebec. Meanwhile, a former Montrealer has already received his doses thanks to clinical trials in the United States.
Stefano Da Fre is a Filmmaker and Actor in New York City. “I wanted to do something to advance this period in life in humanity forward. And also, if I had a chance to protect myself,’ Da Fre told K1037 News in an exclusive interview.
After conducting his own research, The 38 year old Da Fre, who moved from Montreal to New York City in 2006, approached Doctors at Mount Sinai Hospital and Pfizer to volunteer for the clinical trials in June. “I got it on Friday, I’ll never forget it, Friday, September 11th this year,” he said. “I went to Mount Sinai Hospital. I had already met with the Doctors three or four times before. I sort of knew that I was really going to go through with this, there’s no sort of looking back.”
He received his second dose on October 1st. Da Fre went into the study not knowing if he received the vaccine or a placebo. Last month he was told that he did in fact receive the vaccine. “I didn’t get any side effects. I took two Tylenol and had maybe a slight fever of like 99 degrees farenheit. Went to sleep and felt amazing the next day, honestly.”
He says he feels great and has peace of mind.
“I feel like it’s the best decision I made for 2020,” Da Fre said. “This year was a such a terrible, tough year for everybody. So much loss for so many people. I just felt like it was the best decision I could have made.”
