Playground Poker and Magic Palace in Kahnawake will be allowed welcoming players back inside for the first time in nearly six months.

“It has been decided that they will be allowed to open on September 4th on a very limited basis,” said Lloyd Phillips, Kahnawake’s Commissioner of Public Safety. “Very strict criteria starting off week one with the maximum of 50 people in the establishment. They will be further breaking up their establishments into zones. they will be assessed on a week to week basis and they will be increased as we feel comfortable.”

Mackenzie Kirby is a co-licencee at Playground Poker. He says that it’s not a moment too soon. “We’re extremely encouraged to see things slowly return to a sense of normalcy here,” Kirby said. “We’re both very excited and eager to be able to reopen our doors. The opportunity to welcome back our guests after nearly six months is something that we’ve been looking forward to since the initial announcements.”

A maximum of 50 people will be allowed inside. The rest of the plans to comply with the COVID-19 Task Force regulations will be released early next week. Kirby admits it has been a rough go the last few months. “As far as our closure has gone, it’s been tough. For nearly the last six months, like a lot of businesses I’m sure, we faced the challenges that this pandemic has brought.”
