Funeral Services For Grand Chief Norton to Begin at 10 AM

The funeral for Grand Chief Joesph Tokwiro Norton will be held today at the tents set up at the Kahnawake Sports Complex. If you are attending, you must wear a mask, wash your hands and maintain physical distance. If you are unable to attend, the speeches that begin at 10 am will be recorded and shown later in the day on Facebook at the ‘In Memory of Grand Chief Joseph Tokwiro Norton’ page. Among those scheduled to speak are former Council Chief Peggy Mayo-Standup, Minister of Indigenous Services Canada Marc Miller, Regional Chief of the Assembly of First Nations of Quebec-Labrador Ghislain Picard, and Chief Ross Montour.
The Traditional funeral service begins at 11am. Recording of the funeral service is strictly prohibited.
