SQ in Kanesatake

Numerous police officers from the Sûreté du Québec landed in Mohawk territory, late this morning, to conduct searches in commercial buildings belonging to Sharon Simon of Kanesatake. Police were searching four places in the community: Simon’s main residence, her new casino, her gas station and her “potty shack”. Officers were on scene with an armored truck and given the historical tensions between the Mohawks community and police, authorities were ready for any eventuality and several intervention units were on site on standby. No arrests were reported as the “searches are under investigation” for drug trafficking.
Simon, a well-known face in Kanesatake, is the mother of Annie Arbic, whose lavish wedding to powerful Hells Angels member Martin Robert in the heart of downtown Montreal caused much ink to flow in 2018. As part of this same investigation, police officers from the Sûreté du Québec carried out a search of the luxurious residence of Hells Robert Barletta, in Saint-Jérôme, in the Laurentians.
The raids were not connected to the May 25th raids in Kanesatake at the Mohawk Council and Health Centre offices in connection with a fraud investigation.
