Splash Pads in Kahnawake To Open on Monday

Written by on 22 June 2020

Kahnawake’s two splash pads are scheduled to reopen today, as long as the new signs are ready and installed. Mackenzie Whyte the General Manager of Recreation at the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake, said there will be strict rules in place. “Children are going to have to be accompanied by an adult in order to go in the splash pad,” Whyte said. “We are going to have a monitor on site to enforce social distancing as much as we can. So if kids continue touching each other or put their face on the nozzle or anything like that they will be asked to leave.”

The splash pads at Orville Standup Park and the Sports Complex field will be limited to 12 kids at a time, and for up to five minutes at a time if others are waiting. The public bathrooms will remain closed for now.
