Nearly 5000 Vaccines Administered in Kahnawake

Written by on 14 April 2021

Nearly 5,000 doses or 74 percent of Kahnawake adults (18 years and older) have now received at least one dose of a vaccine either at the temporary mass vaccination centre at the Bingo Hall on the 138, or directly at the Kateri Memorial Hospital Center (KMHC), the Independent Living Center (ILC) or at the Turtle Bay Elders Lodge (TBEL).

Others still, such as front line workers, have had their vaccinations done at outside sites even before the Bingo Hall site was set up in Kahnawake.

Lisa Westaway, the Executive Director of the Kateri Memorial Hospital Center says, “We are in a really good place. We’ve administered nearly 5,000 doses of the vaccine.  “This is really great,” Westaway said. “Not only are community members protected but we’ve also protected people who come into contact with community members in order to ensure all around safety for the community and our ability to get through this.”

Doses of the Pfizer vaccine will be administered to 16 and 17 year olds in Kahnawake over the next four days. From Wednesday to Friday the hours are: 3:00 p.m. pm to 5:30 p.m. and then on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Those who are eligible are being asked to register online by visiting www.kahnawake911.com/vaccine and follow the link to Quebec’s ‘ClicSante’ website.
