Gatherings of Up to Eight People Allowed Outdoors

“People in Kahnawake can gather to a maximum of eight people,” Commissioner of Public Safety Lloyd Phillips announced on the Kahnawake Facebook 911 live on Monday. “But the social distance requiremenets must remain the same. Outside only.” The directive will be formalized on Tuesday.

Phillips said the community has been doing a good job of adhering to the directives, but the Task Force realizes that with the warm weather on the way it is important for people to be able to see eachother. “Just as much as the phsyical health we are also concerned about the mental well being of our community,” Phillips said.

Meanwhile it is a week away from Phase one of the businesses reopening in Kahnawake. “Obviously we are targeting June 1^st for the opening date for businesses in the community. The pieces of the puzzle are in place. The machine is in motion,” Phillips said.
